Looking for a Summer Ministry Opportunity? Each year we hire over a dozen Christian College Students to help us make Camp Assurance "a Fun Place, Preparing People for Eternity". They serve as counselors staying cabins with the campers as well as in other areas of the camp ministry. Camp Staff are to be the role models of Spirit-filled Christian living to campers. Each staff member’s mission is to “SHOW Christ!”. Camp work is physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually draining. It’s not easy, but many have found it the toughest job they ever loved! Like a sponge you will get “wrung out” using what you have learned already in your Christian life. After you get “wrung out” you can soak up more than ever in your Christian College classes, church services, and personal devotions! If you think this is something you might like to do with your summer, send Camp Director Scott Randolph an e-mail [see contact page] and ask for a summer staff application. You will want to also check out our Prospective summer Staff Fact Sheet. Our StaffThe RandolphsScott Randolph was a camper [from Waterman Baptist Church, Kingman, IN] nearly every summer from 1971-1980. He worked summer staff while attending college serving in a variety of areas under the pastors of the Assurance Association churches. November 1st 1984, Scott became the Program and Promotions Director part-time throughout the year. During the next five years he subsidized his income serving as a teacher and as a Youth Pastor. On July 4th, 1989, Scott became the full-time Camp Director. Deborah Hayward attended Camp Assurance while growing up in Bethel Baptist Church, Georgetown, Illinois. She worked in the Craft Shop the summer of 1979 and 1988 and helped her Mother, Marilyn Hayward, cook in the kitchen during some of the summers in between. October 20, 1990, Debbie married the Camp Director. She now serves as the Business Manager working hard to stretch every ministry dollar. Debbie also cooks for most retreats and luncheons. The Randolphs have two children, Aaron and Elizabeth. The Randolphs live in their own house on a 2-acre plot given by Camp Assurance in 1998. They are members of Bethel Baptist Church in Georgetown, Illinois. The AugustusesKeith Augustus was the Maintenance Assistant on the 1994 summer staff. The Maintenance Director, Bill Hix, died of cancer that summer and Keith agreed to stay on working part-time throughout the year and full-time in the summer. Stephanie Moore had been a camper and counseled for two summers during her college years. Stephanie and Keith were married August 8, 1998, at First Baptist Church of West Terre Haute [where Keith’s big brother, Jeff, is now the Pastor]. Stephanie serves as the Office Manager and Ladies Retreats Director. She and Keith have two boys: Brandon and Tyler. As of January 1, 2005, Keith became the full-time Assistant Director for Plant Operations. The Augustus’ family live on the campsite and also are members at Bethel.
